The New Benchmark in Surgical Education

Rome’s First 3D Stereoscopic 4K HD Live Training for Breast Reconstruction

Innovation Meets Immersion at the Regina Elena Cancer Institute

Medical education is shifting from observation to immersion. While 2D high-definition broadcasts have long been the standard for live surgery, they fail to convey one critical element of reconstructive procedures: depth perception.

On February 3–4, 2026, Advanced Biomedical Concept (ABC) will introduce 3D stereoscopic 4K HD live surgical filming to reconstructive breast surgery at IFO – Istituto Nazionale Tumori Regina Elena – Istituto Dermatologico San Gallicano for the first time.

The goal is simple and ambitious: allow surgeons to truly see the prepectoral plane as it exists in reality.

Mastering the Prepectoral Plane

Led by Roy de Vita, Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Regina Elena, this intensive two-day training focuses on the how of prepectoral reconstruction.

The curriculum is built around the ExaShape™ bilayer solution, featuring the Bioshield Pocket®, a bovine pericardium matrix engineered for rapid, standardized, and touchless assembly in under 60 seconds.

“Pre-pectoral implants placement in breast reconstruction has changed the lives of breast cancer patients. Unfortunately, not all have the anatomical features to undergo this technique. Exashape® expands the indications and increases the number of patients who can benefit from pre-pectoral placement.” — Prof. Roy de Vita, Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Dept, IFO – Istituto Nazionale Tumori Regina Elena – Istituto Dermatologico San Gallicano

A Strategic Partnership in Technology

This high-fidelity educational experience is made possible through a strategic partnership with treesse SRL.

By integrating treesse’s advanced 3D filming technology within ABC’s carefully structured surgical workflow, the setup delivers a stable, immersive viewpoint that preserves surgical focus and procedural continuity.

“The use of 3D video technology in surgical training offers significant educational benefits. The three-dimensional view of the surgical field allows the audience to have the same perception of the anatomical spaces as the surgeon. This translates into a unique and immersive training experience. We believe that our collaboration with ABC will allow us to spread this technology to an ever-increasing number of training events.” — Flavio Lolli, Owner, treesse SRL

Operational Excellence and Clinical Safety

For the 23 international surgeons and strategic distributors attending in Rome, the training demonstrates how technical innovation translates into operational efficiency.

Preliminary clinical experience with ExaShape® across 37 reconstructed breasts has shown:

  • 0% reported Baker III/IV capsular contractures
  • Reduced handling and contamination risk
  • Optimized operating room time through a standardized assembly process

These metrics matter for high-performance breast units where consistency, efficiency, and patient outcomes are inseparable.

“This initiative reflects ABC’s core philosophy: SMART clinical solutions that address real operational pain points. By combining regenerative technology with immersive education, we help our partners improve both surgical efficiency and replicable succesfull clinical outcomes.” — Flavio Nanni, Founder & COO, Advanced Biomedical Concept

Join the Digital Masterclass

ABC is extending this experience beyond the operating room. We are currently developing a dedicated clinical newsletter to share curated insights from this event, including selected 4K 3D surgical excerpts, expert commentary, and upcoming clinical materials.

Subscribers will receive early updates as new educational content and scientific resources become available.
